I hugely enjoy working with people, and mentoring and coaching is a big part of what I do. In my consulting work, I moved from creating solutions for clients to guiding clients how to develop solutions themselves – an approach I find most valuable and satisfying for both my clients and myself.
How do I work with clients? Most of my work is done in one of two formats:
With a few, select clients I have long-term arrangements where I dedicate a fixed number of days per month to them, supporting them (and specific individuals in their organization) on a range of topics such as credit risk, collections, data science more broadly, or talent development.
Other clients want to leverage my expertise and insight for a particular design problem (e.g., crafting the overall approach to credit assessment); they typically retain me for 1-2 days where I run a workshop with them in which we co-create an approach for the business problem at hand.
Finally, in a few cases my clients have purely a coaching relationship with me where I help them mostly in their personal development as a professional, although at times specific business problems also can become part of the conversations (which mostly happen by phone).
